Bramley Parish Green – Longbridge Road
Many of you will be aware that Bramley Parish Council purchased the green space at the end of Longbridge Road in 2024. This space has been designated as a Village Green for many years, but has been neglected by the previous landowner. Bramley Parish Council purchased the land to ensure that the Village Green status remains, and to turn the space into a usable area for all residents.
Restoration work will begin on the Parish Green at Longbridge Road in the week beginning Monday 24th March 2025. This will begin with the erection of safety fencing and warning signs to regular users of the path across this space, sited between Longbridge Road and the Cinder Track.
Phase one of the planned work will clear the three areas around the paths. A temporary path will be put in near the fence whilst the work is being done. The pedestrian exit near the gate to Longbridge Road will be made wider to allow disabled access and pushchairs. Some bark will be put on muddy paths to temporarily improve it, and then the paths will be surfaced with hoggin. The top layer of soil will be taken out, and stumps from any trees taken out will be ground down. Well established oaks will be left in place. The main part of the area will be turned into open green space that all may use.
Phase 2 of the project will turn the northern end into a property wilded area – there are already oak trees and hazel. Non native species will be cleared out, and this corner of the green will be turned into a haven for native flora and fauna.
It is anticipated that this work will take many months to complete. However, phase 1 will hopefully be complete in a number of weeks, with some time over the summer for any grass seed to properly get established.
Local residents should be aware that there may be some noise from machinery whilst work is carried out, and anyone using the paths should be mindful of the safety notices and take due care when passing through the area.
