Residents will be aware that Bramley Parish Council is sponsoring a wilding project at Bramley Green. This began with a test area in 2019, and was expanded to the whole of Bramley Green this year, for a 2 year test period. For more information on the project, please go here.
A survey has been carried out in the last month of the various flora and fauna species found on the Green. The whole of the Green has a great number of species that weren’t seen in large numbers before the wilding project, and those numbers are higher on the original test area that has been wilded since 2019. The grass in the original area was also shorter than the rest of Bramley Green. A short presentation on the current status of Bramley Green can be viewed here, and detail on the grasses and insects & butterflies can be found by clicking on the links.
The first cut and collect of the season will take place this week, with a second cut and collect scheduled for late September/early October. The project will continue into next year, with a cut and collect scheduled for early spring and early autumn.
Our thanks go to the Wilder Bramley group, whose assistance has been invaluable. More information can be found on their Facebook page www.facebook.com/groups/wilderbramley
